The Spanish have an expression - "tranquilo" - which means "be calm, take your time." Time is an interesting unit of currency: We all have it, equal amounts in a day. But how we choose to spend it results in vastly different qualities of life.
There's a greater pressure, here at home I feel, to pack as much as we can into a day so that we are "productive" and "efficient."
What is lost in these measurements is our peace of mind: a feeling of contentment to be exactly where we are, a deep connection with the people right in front of us, a complete absorption in whatever we are doing right now- all without the distraction of what may come next.
That peace of mind is the greatest form of wealth that I hope to accumulate and protect - by taking my time.
